Directors

Say hello to our team!

The Board of Directors is comprised of local community volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and experience. They have dedicated their time and ideas to help design, develop, organize and create the Lakeshore Food Club.

Here is a little more about who they are and why they volunteer.

Pennies from Heaven Foundation

"The Pennies From Heaven Foundation supports this project because it is a step in our vision to bridge the gap of poverty.

As a person who moved to Ludington and lives and works here, I want to be a part of this project because it is a resource truly designed by the community, to serve the community. We all have needed a hand at some point in time, even me. I am excited to be a part of the team creating that "hand" for Mason County."

"I am Fr. Wayne Wheeler, pastor of St Simon Parish, and I have seen first hand the needs of people in our community for an adequate food pantry and I sincerely believe that the synergy of combining the resources of our individual pantries will provide a better and healthier option for those in need as well as provide greater access.  I have also observed many of those who access our pantry need other assistance such as better access to community mental health, adequate housing, child care, etc.  The model proposed for the Lakeshore Resource Network is one that is inclusive and comprehensive and I am proud to be associated with its roll out."

"I am very excited about this important community resource. As a Registered Dietitian for the WIC program, I see families struggle to find affordable and healthy food with their limited resources. This collaboration of area food pantries demonstrates how we can all work together to help those in need."

"As ordained clergy we who serve congregations of faith are used to calling our members to serve wherever we see need. This project offers the perfect opportunity for me to put into action the words I preach on Sunday mornings. I am truly excited to see the heart of my newly adopted hometown coming together like this to be a blessing to others and I am looking forward with great anticipation to the day we are fully operational."

West Michigan Community Mental Health

"West Michigan CMH has been honored to support the Mason County Mobile Food Pantry for a number of years.  It’s exciting to work together with other members of the community to build something new so that, together, we can serve local individuals and families better than any of us could alone.  The care and the commitment behind this effort exemplifies why our community is such a wonderful place to work and live."

"I was born and raised in Ludington, and have been fortunate enough to be able to return back home after 15 years to live in such an amazing place. I am a stay-at-home mom of 3 kids. I have helped numerous times with the mobile food pantry provided by CMH. I knew I had to be involved in this project because I have seen the need in our community and I want to share the love of Christ."

"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another"

- John 13:35

I've been involved with education for many years and have seen how the ups and downs of the economy has affected our families and our community. When my wife started the Youth Resource Center, it became even more apparent to me how many of our families needed a little bit of extra help. The Lakeshore Resource Network and Lakeshore Food Club are going to be great additions to our community. The consolidation of services and supplies will make the process more efficient for volunteers, donors and those using the services.
