Feeding America Partnership
In addition to obtaining food from a variety of local sources, we are proud to partner with Feeding America of West Michigan (FAWM) in providing food to our members.
Feeding America West Michigan exists to ensure safe food is available to the hungry in our community. In 2016, FAWM distributed a record 29.1 million pounds of food, the equivalent of 24 million meals.
This food came from hundreds of farmers, manufacturers, distributors, and retailers that have edible food they can’t sell because of overruns, order errors, misprints, and other unexpected occurrences.
FAWM distributes that reclaimed food to pantries, shelters, after-school programs, and other anti-hunger agencies in 40 Michigan counties.
More than 900 agencies use Feeding America West Michigan to provide food to an estimated 492,100 people every year. They also send food directly to people in need through their local Mobile Food Pantry Program.
For every dollar donated to their organization, they can provide 4 meals to people in need. A gift of just $21 can feed a family of four for a week.
Collaboration is a priority to us.
The food pantries at St. Simon Church, Radiant Church, and the Mason County Mobile Food Pantry are consolidating with the Lakeshore Food Club.
We appreciate their guidance, wisdom and dedication to our community and for helping us open our doors.
